There is an esophagectomy need to atraumaticly introduce a circular stapler anvil transorally. These benefits also aid with anvil introduction for intestinal procedures. Once an anvil is positioned with its shaft through an otomy, it is needed to: a) remain in position and b) control the position of tissue against it the anvil for a complete anastomosis and good staple form.

DESCRIPTION
The washer can be sutured into the purse-string to further tissue control.

1. A compliant member that allows retention of a circular anvil once graspers are removed even without a tight purse-string.


2. Purse string can be sutured into the compliant washer.
