Abstract

A method and system is disclosed for determining and displaying a set of associated advertisements based on interest of a user.

Description

Disclosed is a method and system for determining primary interest of a user and displaying a set of related advertisements based on the primary interest of the user and advertisements of secondary entities derived from primary interests.

In accordance with the method and system, primary interest of the user is determined.  The primary interest of the user may be determined using various existing methodologies.  For example, if a user is reading an article on a website, then primary interest of the user is determined from the content of the article.  Based on primary interest of the user, a list of secondary objects that are related to the primary interest of the user is determined.  For example, if a user shows interest in a car, then a list of secondary objects may be car insurance, car music system, alloy wheels, etc.  Thereafter, a list of advertisements related to the secondary objects is gathered.  In an exemplary scenario, the secondary advertisements are displayed to the user when the user shows any signs of interest while watching advertisements of primary interest.
