Search engines are frequently used while searching for information on the web. While searching, a user may simply locate pages and keep the tabs open for comparing the pages. In general, a lot of people choose a web-site from the list of suggested responses and either jump to a link based on something they see on the web-site or go back to the original search list created by the search engine. If the user jumps to a link provided on the web-site, the user may not get the desired information that the user searched for.

Disclosed is a method and system for suggesting links to a user based on search history.

Each user has an individual pattern of searching and using keywords for locating search results. The links that are suggested to a user are populated by emulating the user's search pattern. The method uses keywords from pages of a browser and also tracks the search history of the user over a period of time to create a list of search links to be suggested to the user. Inactive links or links which may be hazardous can be filtered out while creating the list. The list can be provided to the user via the browser. For example, the list of search links can be presented by modifying the functionality of a forward button of a browser. The list can be presented to the user in one or more ways. For example, the list can be presented when the user selects the forward button. Alternately, the list can pop-up as the user places the mouse arrow over the forward button.
