Disclosed is a method and system for determining whether a customer entered a store by viewing publicly displayed advertisements of the store. The method includes installing cameras on the publicly displayed advertisements such as billboards and capturing images of potential customers who viewed the publicly displayed advertisements.

In accordance with the method and system, a camera is installed on a publicly displayed advertisement for a store. The camera takes images of all individuals who view the billboard. Additionally, length of time an individual spends on viewing the publicly displayed advertisement is monitored. The length of time the individual spends viewing the publicly displayed advertisement assists in determining interest of the user for the publicly displayed advertisement. In an embodiment, a database maintains records of images obtained from cameras installed at the publicly displayed advertisements. The database also records the length of time an individual spends in viewing the publicly displayed advertisements.

Similarly, cameras are also installed at the store for identifying customers who are present at the store and make purchases at the store. In an embodiment, cameras may be installed at the entrance of the store and at checkout counters of the store.
