Abstract

A method and system for sending private content to one or more recipients while sending a group email.  The method and system enables a user to create multiple versions of a group email by editing the content based on recipients of the group email and send each version to the intended recipient.

Description

Disclosed is a method and system for sending private content to one or more recipients while sending a group email.  The method and system uses an email service that enables a user to edit content of a group email based on the recipients of the group email.  While composing the group email, the user selects either a recipient or a group of recipients for whom the user desires to customize the content of the group email.  The user uses visual indicators to simplify the overall process of composing the group email.  Thereafter, individual emails consisting customized content of the group email is sent to each recipient.  Additionally, the user can control visibility of recipients in a list to an individual recipient, wherein the individual recipient can be allowed or disallowed to view other recipients who received the individual email.

In an exemplary scenario, a job applicant sends out job resume to multiple employers.  The job applicant sends a common email to all the employers after editing the content, attachments and subject based on each employer.
