Abstract

Disclosed is a method for seeking most appropriate combination of virtual machines on physical machine. This method consists of below two elements as follows: (1) This method provides guidance for equally assigning workload of virtual machine to physical servers using pre-stored hourly distribution of utilization ratio which is collected from virtual machines. (2) This disclosure also provides the best way of predicting most suitable combination of virtual machines on physical machine in the future.

Disclosed is a method for seeking most appropriate combination of virtual machines on physical machine. This method consists of below two elements as follows:


(1) This method provides guidance for equally assigning workload of virtual machine to physical servers using pre-stored hourly distribution of utilization ratio which is collected from virtual machines.


(2) This disclosure also provides the best way of predicting most suitable combination of virtual machines on physical machine in the future.

Mechanism (1)


1. Do sampling utilization from virtual machine as below Figure 1.

2. Getting the assembly of rectangles from sampling data as below Figure 2.

3. Seeking the best combination that total utilization becomes fewer from all sampling data. Brute-force attack method would be used.

Mechanism (2)


1. Comparing the past utilization with the present at every sampling position.


2. Calculating future utilization to add growth ratio to present utilization.
