Disclosed is a method and system for dynamic discovery and integration of multiple smart devices into a single composite system. The smart devices can be, but are not limited to, cell phones, smart phones, tablets and laptops. Each individual smart device can work on its own configuration as customized before integration. The smart devices can be connected to each other either through a physical connector or through a logical connector to form the single composite system with a larger display and improved storage and access capacity. When the devices are integrated to form the single composite system, the software installed on each of the devices can be accessible to other devices.

In a scenario, the process of dynamically discovering and integrating multiple smart devices starts with each smart device sensing the proximity of all other smart devices located nearby. The smart devices can sense the proximity either through a physical adapter or through a wireless logical protocol. The smart devices can be integrated into the single composite system with coordinated display and processing based on their willingness to participate as a part of the integrated system. A preloaded software module in each smart device provides position, proximity and device configuration information such as for example device type and operating system (OS).

In accordance with the scenario, as illustrated in the fig., when multiple smart devices are brought together, each device will sense the presence of other devices through a physical adaptor or a wireless protocol such as Bluetooth* or both. Each device has 4 connectors distributed on its 4 sides. The 4 connectors can be a combination of 2 male connectors and 2 female connectors or all the 4 connectors can be of the same type. The physical connector provides stability to the single composite system. The physical connector also provides the ability to carry multiple smart devices attached together as a single unit. The smart devices can also be connected using a logical connector based on a wireless protocol. When the smart devices are brought close to each other to an almost touching position, all the neighboring devices are connected to each other using the logical connector.
