A method and system is disclosed for efficiently collecting location data associated with query keywords.  The method and system improves confidence and reliability of location data associated with the query, thereby enabling optimized response to the query.

Description

Disclosed is a method for efficiently collecting location data associated with a query.  The method and system improves confidence and reliability of location data associated with the query, thereby enabling optimized response to the query.

Consider a scenario, wherein a user submits a query to the system.  In response to receiving the query, the system determines if location data is associated with the query or not.  When the location data is associated with the query, an optimized response to the query is sent to the user using the location data.

However, in a scenario, when the location data is not associated with the query, the system derives probable location information for the query using a query location processing module.  The Query location processing module regularly processes query logs with reliable location data from users, sequence of queries performed by users at a location and profile information of users.  Such processing provides the system with relevant information about the user, the user profile, the search history and the location history.
