Flowing Automotive Traffic

Disclosed is a method and system for monitoring automotive traffic conditions in real-time and recommending actions to the motorists based on real-time traffic conditions.

The method and system utilizes a monitoring device such as a satellite that has capabilities to track individual vehicles and transmit specific, contextual-based messages to individual vehicles based on specific conditions. The monitoring device has capabilities to collect information on roadways which it is responsible for monitoring. The monitoring device possesses information regarding posted speed limits and direction of traffic, for instance. In addition, the monitoring device is also configured to be in possession of an implementation of a model of ideal traffic flow. The monitoring device has the ability to monitor traffic conditions and compare actual traffic conditions with the model and identify any deviations. Based on the analysis, the monitoring device may transmit notifications to individual automobiles when deviations are observed.
