Consolidated Scripts and Scripts to Update Database to the Current Build

Disclosed is a method for consolidating scripts and scripts to update a database (Db) to the current build. In an example embodiment, the database is utilized for asset management.

In an example embodiment, the method is utilized for internal testing and released to customers after internal testing is completed.

With the asset management system, an asset may be represented by one or more objects. Build scripts are utilized for updating data bases.

One script per object is utilized to modify the object structure. This is done to have better update database performance and a clear way to update object structure.

Scripts are consolidated as follows:

object-dbc.xls file with list of objects/scripts provides information, which script (java)

file to use when changing an object structure.

The object-dbc.xls file is created at the beginning of a release and is removed before the product is released. A new one is created to handle post release changes

Developers can find the needed script name in object-dbc.xls or add a new object/script line to object-dbc.xls

During development, the following procedure is utilized:

Duplicate changes of main update scripts (dbc or Java) are updated in daily "X- scripts"

If developer submits a new object dbc (java) - the same changes need to be

submitted as X-file

If developer updates an old dbc file (java) - the needed changes (delta) have to be

submitted as X-file

X-files are created during the release and will be...
