Automatic Smart Phone App and Support Information Web Page File Push for Bluetooth Connected Accessory

2.

Field of the Invention:
Wireless Communication, Smart Phone App Distribution

3.

Background:

Smart Phone Apps are widely used to work with Bluetooth Connected Accessories (like BT headset) to exchange information, configuration, control between the Smart Phone and the Accessory. Some of the accessories (like a heartbeat sensor) can only function as intended when it communicates with an accessory-associated App.

Object Push Profile is widely supported by Smart Phone/Tablet OS (Android, Windows Phone 8 and Blackberry OS) to share files and the contact information between two smart phone.

Web Browsers are widely supported by Smart Phone/Tablet OS .

Previous Solutions:
To allow the user to download an App or an online user manual for their Bluetooth Connected Accessory, a 2D barcode or a text URL Link is printed on the product package . For user, either they need to do extra text input or barcode scanning, so quite often they just ignore these options. This causes low installation rates for applications related to BT accessories.

For iOS , a special authentication chip is required to run a special protocol over the Bluetooth so that an iOS device can download and/or open an app for the accessory when they are connected.

Additionally, it is known to pass a URL from an NFC tag to an NFC-enabled device, for example to give more information about a product that is shown on a poster.
