Abstract

Disclosed is a mechanism that treats all information in the device as an object for one of the integrated applications. It provides a new method to match free text in mobile devices associating with contact information, and also a trigger link to applications beyond the contact information. Based on this mechanism, more applications could be integrated via contact information.

Information Retrieving and Application Association Based on Contact List in Mobile Devices

Retrieving contact information or recommending an application which could process the information from a free context in a mobile communication device is a common requirement. Currently, the function is only provided via simply pattern matching of email address or continuous digital numbers together with a link to dial/send message/send email. This method is lack of relation to other information from the same device, so the patterns have to be simple and sometimes meaningless. For example, if user inputs her bank account into a text message, it would be recognized as phone number by current method which is useless.

The mechanism treats all information in the device as an object for one of the integrated applications . It provides a new method to match free text in mobile devices associating with contact information, and also a trigger link to applications beyond the contact information.

Based on this mechanism, more applications could be integrated via contact information. Thus, information retrieving of free context such as txt files, short messages and note Apps in mobile devices should be more specific because the matching rule is based on structured information from contact list.

This mechanism treats string or number values of structured contact list fields as pattern set. Toward the pattern set, it defines a mapping between information and applications which could process the information or take the information as input,...
