Suppress the Noise Level with Human Body Sensor

For larger server system, it required higher cooling capability to cool down the powerful system. Usually the fan based cooling system needs very high air flow that results unacceptable noise to ear. System design usually provides the mode that allow system to operate at lower acoustic level by suppressing the performance. It requires user setup, and usually a reboot will be needed to initialize the new mode.

The core idea is to add the human body sensor then the system automatically suppresses the performance when one need to attend the system for some changes.

The invention includes two implementations. The acoustic cap is triggered by either system (for embedded detector) or central controlled system via the management power capping commands to help people from hearing impacts.


1. On system IR sensor:


The sensors detect the body heat directly with system management controller like widely used secure system to detect human body. When the sensors detects it around the system, it means a man goes close to the system to attended join like routing the wire/configure the systems. The system manager will go to a more aggressive thermal throttling mode to suppress the noise that hurts human hearing from systems.
