Abstract

In airlines industry there are various avionics systems that need to communicate among themselves in very low level digital communications. Majority of these communications need to follow various multiple business communication protocols. Some protocols may be binary, some may be file transfer protocols where one protocol may wrap another and this may continue for three or even more protocols for each such communication. Most of these communications are serial over tcp. For such cases, to build solutions for such avionics systems it is difficult to implement and reuse such solutions across different business requirements. ACARS protocol standard is one such example. Feature proposes a reusable and configurable system that helps exchange messages among multiple avionics system that need to comply multiple protocols wrapping one another. This system supports serial communication over TCP.

a) To process any message protocol other than ACARS protocol.


b) The order of protocols to be applied for one or more message may change over time but the system can still process the message exchange without the need to make any code change. This can be achieved just by making simple change to reflect the new order of protocols in the protocol configuration file.


c) Every time a new requirement comes in, to implement message exchange between two avionics system as per new protocol, whole new set of code needs to be build to implement the same. But with this system the most basic system is already there, changes like configuring the new protocol in a configuration file and including a parser and a protocol rule implementer class may need to be included.


d) To process multiple protocol in any numbers and in any orders in a configurable manner.

• Helps configure multiple protocols used by multiple avionics system in an xml format. One example may be ACARS protocol standards.

• This system can exchange messages with other avionics systems that follow multiple protocol standards.
