Abstract

A disintegrating or dissolving plug is envisioned for Sand Control applications. A plug of disintegrating or dissolving material is attached to the bottom of the washpipe. Upon completion of the gravel pack or frac pack, the washpipe is retrieved with the service string. Before exiting the top of the sand control liner, the plug latches into a locking profile and the washpipe continues out of hole. The plug will hold pressure from above and below and will not require breaking or intervention to remove. The plug can be designed to disintegrate or dissolve at certain points in time depending on the need and composition of the plug.
