Abstract

The disclosure discloses a real-time power balance method based on DC power flow to solve the problem of power unblance. In the method, first, It defines the scale of the grid and determine the specific level of the node. Second, as for each node in the network, it scales the adjustable load limitation based on the multi-dimension indices which reflect detailed information from a micro-aspect. Third, as for requirement for the quick analysis and computation, the decision making mechanism can be implemented real-time based on the DC power flow. Last, Line and transformer limitations are considered so as to keep the power system in a good state.

Background:

   Rapid growth in power demand and lack of the generation resource can cause the power shortage easily, and the management for power supply and demand balance received more and more attention.

   1Power system requires high power balance restricts, the power generated from the generators must match the power consumed by the loads.

2Power peak occurs shortly, but does matter to affect the safe and reliable operation of the grid.


3Smart grid needs quick(real time) response dealing with the power balance.


4Power supply and demand unbalance lead to accident and even large scale blackout, such as:North America Power Grid blackout on

August 14,2003, Loss 30 Billion$/Day, 10 Million people are affected; Blackout India on July 31,2012. 600 Million people are affected.

Current Solution and Problem

Presently, increasing generation and decreasing power consumption are used to solve this problem in power companies. However, currently, there are problems when decreasing power consumption:

1Time consuming and not quick response in case of accident. (North America Power Grid blackout)

2It is rough in the management of customer priorities and lack of quantitative calculation.

3Sometimes, the electric lines are over-loading which are great threat the system after dispatch.

Our Idea

A real-time power balance method based on DC power flow has been disclosed based on following aspects:
