Abstract

A method and system for applying a Social Business Proximity Ranking Factor (SBPRF) for sorting recent social business updates of an enterprise is disclosed. The method and system first creates a SBPRF database based on one or more of, but not limited to, trusted and critical business relationships, user inputs, relationships in social business applications, and intelligent discovery from social business networks. Thereafter, the method and system applies the SBPRF for sorting the recent social business updates of the enterprise.

In a social business network one or more users following a particular user receive updates via email in a chronological sequence. However, each of the one or more users may not be interested in all the updates. Further, the user has to spend enormous amount of time to browse and scan through all the updates to filter and identify interested topics.

Disclosed is a method and system for sorting recent updates based on a Social Business Proximity Ranking Factor (SBPRF) to identify interesting updates for a user. The social business proximity relationship between an update sender and update receiver helps in identifying one or more interesting topics for the update receiver. Higher the SBPRF between the update sender and the update receiver, more likely that the update receiver would be interested in receiving updates from the update sender. The SBPRF is used to represent the relationship proximity between the update sender and receiver.

In an exemplary implementation of the method and system disclosed herein, A SBPRF

database is built using a self learning algorithm. The SBPRF database is built based on one or more of, but not limited to, business hierarchy structure present in an organization and relationship in a social business application.
