Abstract

An application that checks the code base of all projects across an entire organisation in different locations for common code, common configuration files, common libraries and common patterns so as to enable reuse and thus reduce the code base. When creating a new project, the application can suggest other teams/experts that have already used the libraries you intend to use and point them towards the source code which is available for reuse. The user will be able to connect to the "expert" directly who created/maintains the code and gain knowledge/ask questions about the code if needed.

Application to identify possible duplication of development by analysis of development repositories for an entire organisation

In large organisations with lots of different development projects, it is very easy for development teams to implement the same code and use the same libraries without knowledge of previous work done by other teams.

Sharing code is now common-practice among members of a development team, but not within different development teams across different groups in organisations.

Reuse of code associated with libraries means teams only need a few people to implement code for an entire organisation.

The issues if teams do not cooperate across organisations: - Development teams spend time and effort implementing the same code as other teams. - Code bloat/cloud applications being larger than they should be or multiple versions of the same frameworks being deployed. - Development teams can use libraries whereby they implement code using these libraries potentially making the same mistakes that other teams may have already made and solved using the same libraries.

No known solutions.

When creating a new project, the application can suggest other

teams/experts that have already used the libraries the user intends to use and point them towards the source code which is available for reuse.
