Social networks allow users to upload/store and share users' media online. One or more users can store or upload any kind of media such as but not limited to, photos, videos, and clips.

The disclosed method and system enables users to retrieve stored media from one or more social networks.

In accordance with the method, a user is provided with an option to specify conditions about retrieval of a media from one or more social networks. Along with the conditions of retrieval the user also specifies attributes such as, but not limited to, time at which the media was created, and place where the media was created. These attributes are derived from clock, and GPS of a device that is used for creating the media. Such attributes are usually associated with the media.

In order to efficiently retrieve media, the method and system determines a group of users that share media with the user requesting for retrieval of desired media from social networks. Further, the method and system may prompt the user for specifying additional parameters for more specific search in social networks based on search conditions initially specified by the user.

The user may specify location search parameters associated with the media. The location search parameters can be, but not limited to, a point on a map, path on a map, spatial area of a map (including 3D areas).

The user can also specify time period search parameters associated with the media. Accordingly, the method and system allows one or more users to associate past, present and future time periods with media.
