checkout

Disclosed is a method and system of automatically presenting one or more non-barcoded items during self-checkout by a shopper at a point of sale (POS) terminal based on identifying the one or more non-barcoded items in a shopping list. Further the shopping list may be associated with the shopper and may include items that the shopper wishes to purchase at a store. Further, the shopping list may be transmitted to the store. The store may be, but is not limited to a grocery store, a supermarket, a clothing outlet, a book store and a restaurant. Additionally the items may comprise of

one or more barcoded items and the one or more non-barcoded items. A

non-barcoded item of the one or more non-barcoded item may be, but is not limited to a fruit and a vegetable.

In an embodiment, the system may include a transaction manager, a shopping list processor and a shopping list dispatcher. The transaction manager, the shopping list processor and the shopping list dispatcher may be associated with the store comprising the POS terminal. In an instance, the transaction manager is used for obtaining the shopping list from a portable device associated with the shopper. The transaction manager initiates a shopping transaction with the portable device for transferring the shopping list from the portable device to the transaction manager. In a step explained in the method, the transaction manager also restores a previous shopping transaction for obtaining an updated shopping list from the portable device. In an instance, the shopping list processor identifies the one or more non-barcoded items in the shopping list received from the portable device. Subsequent to receiving the shopping list from the transaction manager, the shopping list processor parses the shopping list for identifying the items included in the shopping list. The items may then be matched with store items included in a store database associated with the store. The one or more non-barcoded items included the items are identified based on matching the items with the store items. In an instance, the store database may be included in the POS terminal itself. The shopping list processor may then create an updated shopping list based on tagging the one or more non-barcoded items in the shopping list. The updated shopping list may subsequently be sent to the portable device. The portable device may subsequently return the updated shopping list including one or more non-barcoded items that have been marked. The shopping list processor then identifies the one or more non-barcoded items that have been marked, in the updated shopping list. In an instance, the Shopping List Dispatcher may handle communication between the portable device and the transaction manager.

In an embodiment, the method may enable the portable device to be used for creating and transmitting the shopping list to the POS terminal. For instance, the po...
