Abstract

the CAPS System is a concept to deploy upper completion with full reservoir isolation to eliminate well produced hydrocarbons or potential fluid losses until such time the upper completion is landed and tested. This option uses patented technologies, for completions where there are more than one completed zone requiring isolation to ensure hydrocarbons are not allowed into the wellbore during final installation or until desired. As an integral part of the Upper Completion, the CAP system allows the landing of the completion for tubing hanger space-out without opening the lower completion production sleeves, thereby preventing fluid movement within the wellbore. The CAP system components are: • Item 1: MISR- Mechanical Indicating Seal Receptacle • Item 2: MASS- Mechanical Activated Setting Sleeve • Item 3: HAV -Hydraulically Annular Activated Valve • MSV with QPQ Bull Nose Flush Joint Box Connection The invention takes into account the ability to annularly control hydrocarbons into the reservoir thereby mitigation environmental and potential well control issues.
