Abstract

The challenge has a temporary solution when the user address the call over the speaker, this is an uncomfortable solution most of the times and becomes less feasible from the user experience perspective. Our features discloses an approach to use Accelerometer on the Smartphones to address the problem. When a user moves the phone away from the ear to the position to view the screen , the speaker mode automatically ENABLED “ON”. (refer image on slide #4) On auto enabled Speaker mode, the person can answer the phone and can operate on the mobile screen say view messages, take notes, join another person for a conference call, etc. simultaneously . This enhances user experience for the person over a call. This features involves an agent which tracks the Accelerometer readings and switches to the Speaker Phone mode accordingly Accelerometer tracks the phone orientation and triggers the action of auto SPEAKER Mode based on particular coordinates pre-configured

In general, when a person on a call wants to address a different channel like including responding over

IVR menus, referring the time on the same phone, etc., the conventional way is to use the speaker phone.

Every time the caller has to move away the phone from his ears and address the external entity (like IVR response menus or people around). If the device is touch screen the problem is still challenging as there needs several user interaction such as unlock the screen, switch on the mobile display, etc. This is a very common problem seen as a user experience challenge when a person addresses a call on a mobile phone.
