Abstract

The invention proposes a technique to position user interface screen for an incubator. The user interface screen is positioned directly above a canopy of the incubator at the centerline of the unit. The user interface screen is mounted with a swivel mount to a multi-jointed arm. The screen is either two sided screen or is mounted on a swivel mount such that the screen is turned to face side of the unit. Such a screen configuration enables the user to see or clinician to access while standing on either side of the unit. In case the screen is located directly above the canopy, field of view of user or clinician encompasses both the patient and the user interface screen.

FIELD OF INVENTION

The invention generally relates to an incubator and more particularly to optimal positioning of user interface screen in the incubator.

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

In general, the user interface screen of an incubator is located at the head end or electronics enclosure end of the incubator. FIG. 1 depicts a conventional location of the user interface screen of an incubator.

The conventional position requires a user/clinician to draw their attention away from the infant inside the incubator when the user/clinician views the screen.


Hence there exists a need for an efficient technique to position user interface screen for an incubator.

BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION

The invention proposes a technique to position the user interface screen for an incubator. The user interface screen is positioned directly above the canopy of the incubator and mounted with a swivel mount to a multi-jointed arm. When the screen is located directly above the canopy, the field of view of user or clinician encompasses both the patient and the user interface screen. As a result, the amount of distraction of a user/clinician from a patient is reduced when the user/clinician interacts with the user interface.


DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION

The invention proposes a technique to position user interface screen for an incubator. The user interface screen is positioned directly above the canopy of the incubator at the centerline of the unit. The user interface screen is mounted with a swivel mount to a multi-jointed arm. When the screen is located directly above the canopy, the field of view of user or clinician encompasses both the patient and the user interface screen. As a result, the amount of distraction of a user/clinician from a patient is reduced in case the user/clinician interacts with the user interface.
