Disclosed is a method and system for checking if a person mentioned within a body of an email has been listed as a recipient in a recipient list of the email. The method and system can subsequently perform an action such as adding the person to the recipient list, removing the person from the recipient list, prompting a user to remove the person from the recipient list, and prompting the user to add the person to the recipient list.

The method and system includes performing pattern analysis for identifying a name of a person mentioned in the body. Exemplary patterns searched for during pattern analysis include, "Copying

". The context can be identified using semantic analysis.
