Abstract

Collaboration document editor support share a document to several participants, and the participants can co-edit the document in real-time. All the participants work on their location separately, so one participant changes his location will not impact the others. But if the editor is used at a web meeting, this asynchronous mode is very inconvenient. This disclosure provides a method to share location with the participants in collaboration document editor: 1. Every participant can share his location or not. 2. Each participant can select follow one shared location. If the shared location is changed, the followers will change to same location automatically. 3. If more than one participants shared their location in a document session, the participants can discuss the document by group, and each group has one synchronous location. Using this method, the collaboration document editor will be very suitable used at a web meeting.

  Doing a presentation or talking about a document at web meeting, the traditional way is using desktop document editor and a screen share application. The participants can see the host's screen image through the screen share application.

  Online collaboration document editor is very suitable for this case at web meeting. Collaboration document editor can share a document to several users, and coedit the document in real-time. All the participants can see a same document at their own side, so no screen share application is needed any more.

 But in co-editing mode, each participant works on his own section separately, so a user change his focus location will not impact the other user's focus location . So if use the editor at a web meeting, the host must tell his location to the other participants, and the participants switch to the location manually.

 Our invention will provide a method to overcome this limitation. A participant can share his location, and the other participants can follow his location, thus, they will work at a synchronous focus location.

 Firstly, this invention provides a method for the participants to share their location. If a participant select share his location, his location will be sent to the server. More than one participant can share their focus locations in a document session, and all the shared locations are saved at server side. When the participants change their location, the location information saved in server will be updated too. If a participant doesn't want to share his location any more, he can stop his sharing, and then his location information will be removed from server.

 Secondly, this invention provides a method for the participants to follow the other participant's location. If there are shared locations, the participant can select which location he will follow.
