Abstract

Currently most USB disk based on flash memory have fixed size, that is, if you wan to store files with size larger than the USB disk size, you have to split the files and store the splits on multiple USB disks, the drawback is obvious, the root cause is because the size of USB disk can’t be extended dynamically. With the emerging of cloud disk storage technology, we can access our files anywhere as long as there available Internet connection, but usually this method needs a specific client software which is inconvenient to use, most importantly, there are some security risks, because more or less you leave some information on the computer via which you access the cloud storage. Our method solves these issues via combining USB storage and network/cloud storage technology, and let user access the cloud storage just like a local plug and play USB flash disk, but with a dynamically extended size, also we introduce a wireless channel in the USB disk such as 3G wireless adapter so that even on the host without available network to the Internet can still access the files “in” the USB disk.
