A Method and System for Using an Entire Screen of a Mobile Device as a Natural Track Pad

Disclosed is a method and system for using an entire screen of a mobile device as a natural track pad. The method and system enables controlling a cursor such as during a remote desktop application session by using the screen as the natural track pad. For example, the user can move the cursor in the remote desktop by a distance proportional to a swipe gesture received anywhere on the screen.

In one implementation, the method and system enables using the natural track pad for performing the following operations.


• The user can perform a swipe motion with one finger to move the cursor across the screen at a speed relative to the speed of the swipe motion


• The user can perform a left-click by tapping to a left of a finger position used in moving the cursor. For example, if the user is controlling the cursor with the middle finger of the user's right hand, a tap with the pointer finger while the middle finger is still down will perform the left click


• The user can right click by using the finger to the right (for example, the ring finger) of the finger used in moving the cursor

• The user can double tap the screen to move the cursor to a different location on the screen

The figure illustrates an exemplary use of the entire screen as the natural track pad disclosed herein.
