Abstract

A method and system is disclosed for presenting one or more user sentiments in real-time communication systems. The method and system identifies text written by a user in an electronic communication tool such as, but not limited to, an instant messenger and a social media application. Thereafter, the method and system processes the text using Natural Language Processing (NLP) for determining the type of emotion the user intended to express for presenting the one or more user sentiments.

Presenting User Sentiments In Real -

Disclosed is a method and system for presenting one or more user sentiments in real-time communication systems. According to embodiments of the present invention, text entered by a user in an electronic communication tool is analyzed to determine the type of emotion/sentiment of the user. This analysis may be done concurrently with the text entry. Upon determining an appropriate emotion/sentiment of the user, a media file that describes a corresponding emotion is retrieved from the database and is associated with the analyzed text. The media file can be an image, a video, an audio and an animated gif file. Thereafter, the automatically selected media files along with the text entered are displayed / played to a recipient at the other side of communication tool. The media file thus portrays the user's sentiment through the body language or sound expressed in the media file.

In accordance with embodiments of the present invention, when the user types a text

message to another user using a communication tool, the method and system identifies the sentiment of the user using Natural Language Processing (NLP). The method and system analyzes the text to identify sentiments such as, but not limited to, happy, sad, mad, and excited.
