Abstract

A method and system is disclosed for enabling exchange of items between one or more people connected by a network such as a social network.  The method and system suggests a schedule including time, date and location for the exchange of items as per travel schedules of the one or more people.

Description

Disclosed is a method and system for enabling exchange of one or more items between people connected by a network such as a social network.

 

In an implementation, the method and system uses information from one or more social networks such as Facebook*, Twitter** etc. for connecting people.  For example, the method and system creates a travel schedule for a given time interval that can be weekly or monthly based on information gathered from the one or more social networks.  The travel schedule can include a time, a place and a mode of transportation of the user.  Subsequently, the method and system finds a date, time and location for exchanging or transferring one or more items between the user and one or more people connected to the user in the same network according to the travel schedules of the user and the one or more people.  The method and system also provides the user one or more suggestions/recommendations of date, time and location for exchanging the one or more items and allows the user to select the one or more suggestions/recommendations.

Consider a scenario, wherein a user A needs to determine a schedule for delivering a movie disc to a user B.  In order to determine the optimal schedule, the method and system can firstly identify information corresponding to location and travel schedule of user A and user B.  For instance, based on analysis of the information available on a social network, the method and system can determine that:

 

  • User A lives in Chicago while user B lives in Detroit
  • User B goes to Chicago for business trip every Thursday
  • User A gets off work and is in subway station A from Monday to Friday at approximately from 19:00 to 19:30
  • User B needs to take subway to train station for ride back to Detroit every Thursday after meeting with client and is in subway station A on Thursday from 18:45 to 19:15...
