Usually, a user has to manually search for products in a retail store. Moreover, the retail stores frequently redesign product displays and also move products to other portions of the store. Thus, the user experience of shopping in the retail stores is diminished when the users are unable to locate the required products.

The method and system disclosed herein assists a user in locating a product within a retail store. The method and system monitors the location of the user using a mobile device such as a smartphone of the user and generates an alert as the user approaches the location of the product in the retail store.

The method and system relates to an inventory management solution that utilizes radio frequency identification (RFID) tags and a RFID reader to detect product locations in the retail stores. Initially, the method and system disclosed herein extracts a list of products required by the user from a shopping application installed on the mobile device of the user. Subsequently, the method and system disclosed herein provides an audible alert to the user when the user approaches the location of the products in the retail store.
