Abstract

A method and system is disclosed for estimating accuracy of self-reported health data. The method and system additionally includes formulating a schedule for reporting requirements based on comparison with objective, periodic measurements of analogous health data. The schedule is formulated to maintain and/or improve a health level of an individual who self-reported the health data.

Reported Health Data

Disclosed is a method and system for estimating accuracy of self -reported health data. The method and system additionally includes formulating a schedule for reporting requirements based on comparison with objective, periodic measurements of analogous health data. The schedule is formulated to maintain and /or improve a health level of an individual who self-reported the health data.

In accordance with the method and system, a series of objective measurements of a variable of medical interest is accessed as a set of values . The variable of medical interest may be affected by a behavior of an individual . For example, blood serum cholesterol levels of an individual may be considered. A first function curve is fitted with

an objective measure to account for the set of values . Each value of the set of values is a point of the first function curve. Thereafter, a confidence level for each point on the first function curve is calculated. In an alternate embodiment, the first function curve is extrapolated in time to extend to a next planned observation time .

Based on the medical interest, a valence of deviation of concern is set. For example, if the medical interest is to measure cholesterol level, then a deviation concern is set if
the cholesterol level is high. Alternatively, if the medical interest is blood glucose level, then concern is set if blood glucose level is high or low. In an embodiment, a pre-defined threshold for allowable deviation from an observed level and the confidence level is set to trigger a deviation concern.

Method and System for Estimating Accuracy of Self -

After setting the valence of deviation of concern , self-reported health data regarding the medical interest is acquired. This includes acquiring self-reported adherence behavior regarding...
