Providing Standardized Information Exchange Format for Consumables

Abstract

Disclosed are a method and system to provide a standardized format (i.e. Extensible Markup Language) for incoming supplier data that must be entered into a manufacturer's internal system.

Problem

Manufacturing companies obtain consumables (e.g., chemicals, pads, slurry, wafer, gas, etc.) from outside suppliers. A single manufacturer can obtain dozens of different consumables from hundreds of suppliers. The suppliers test the consumables in order to pass the specification qualification test. Manufacturing companies perform qualification verification upon receipt of the consumables.

A method is needed to perform yield analysis on the consumable data even after passing initial qualification test. Currently, no standard format for incoming supplier data exists. Dozens of different file formats are used; therefore, manufacturers must create corresponding loaders to load the files to internal systems. This creates huge overhead to add new supplier, to maintain the system, and to internally share the information.

Solution/Novel Contribution

The novel contribution is a method to standardize the incoming data format for all consumables. To accommodate different consumables that have unique characteristics and different hierarchies, the solution is not only flexible, but also consistent. It does not become an individual solution per consumable type.
