Advertisers are continually expanding market reach. Any new system that offers additional ways to reach an audience or to identify areas of interest for potential consumers is valuable.

A system and method are needed to expand the geographical coverage for directly advertising to an individual by considering the geography covered in media as it is accessed by users.

The novel contribution is a system and method to expand geographical coverage of advertising methodologies by using the geographies covered in media files that a user consumes. The geographies of interest indicate opportunities for marketing and suggesting sales.

Following are the components and process for implementing the system and method in a preferred embodiment:

1. System tracks a user's video section viewing pattern, where each section of video covers a particular geographic area

2. System tracks a user's feedback and comments (positive or negative) on any video section

3. System identifies the geographic coverage based on the gathered metadata of the video sections (i.e. previously disclosed novel systems and methods)


4. System aggregates the above data and combines the total geographic coverage


5. System ranks the combined geographic area based on:


A. Number of views or other popularity metrics


B. Existing comments or feedback and associated tone of language
