Abstract

Disclosed is a system to detect the frequency of vibration using multiple external sources like sounds and motion sensor. The system detects the frequency of vibration by analyzing the frequency of these sources and therefore detects a reliable pattern of motion. Once the frequency is detected, the software on the image capture device triggers Time lapse based image capture with the specific time pattern. The pattern could be adjusted dynamically based on new vibration pattern detected.

When trying to capture video using mobile device or camera while in a moving state ( e.g. Running ) , the level of vibration of the captured video is typically unacceptable. People can get sick or nauseous easily when watching the video.

    Current vibration resistance mechanism mostly relies on physical adjustment of Lens to stabilize images, but it doesn't work well for dramatic vibration like in running state. In some case, the demand for high quality, continuous image is not critical.

    Take the following video for example, it is a time lapse based video, but since the time doesn't match the motion pattern, the video is not stable and not smooth ( partly because the interval is too long) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CDMeW-87siI

    The idea is to detect the frequency of vibration using multiple external sources like sounds and motion sensor. We can detect the frequency of vibration by analyzing the frequency of these sources and therefore detects a reliable pattern of motion. Once the frequency is detected, the software on the mobile device can trigger Time lapsed based image capture with the specific time pattern. The pattern could be adjusted dynamically based on new vibration pattern.
