Abstract

An Extensible Markup Language (XML) parser is disclosed for providing interactive user override for exception events.  The XML parser allows a user to interactively ignore errors or exceptions that are not fatal.  Additionally, the exception events are categorized into major and minor exception events to notify the user when the user is providing an override for an exception event.     

Description

Typically in video advertising, video advertisements are provided in a standard Extensible Markup Language (XML) format called Video Ad Serving Template (VAST).  There is a schema for what is a valid VAST video advertisement that most players in the advertising industry adhere to.  The video advertisement players that read these video advertisements are, however quite lenient about the VAST XML.  For example, not much importance is given to ordering of elements within the XML, so long as their structure is accurate.  However, ad creation tools that create the XML do not allow for any deviations from the schema.
