Abstract

We present a system and method for formulating and maintaining minimum contention mitigation plans such that A current view of the infrastructure is maintained By implementing protocols for continuous monitoring of the infrastructure A current view of the disaster scenarios, at the local (group) level as well as the global (all groups combined) is maintained By re-computing the disaster scenarios based on the changes to the infrastructure and usage pattern. All mitigation plans are dynamically modified to keep track of the current state of the infrastructure and its usage By re-computing the mitigation plans in response to the new disaster scenarios. We make the process of business continuity planning an on going continuous process, rather than a periodically executed protocol.

This can be done through any way of querying a corresponding data base for example, through a web based interface.

Data on which groups are using which resource in the infrastructure and for how long.

This essentially captures the current state of the infrastructure.

Each group may have key disaster scenarios that it wants to plan for.

The full infrastructure may be affected by various problems, which may precipitate into major problems for many of the groups. The groups may or may not have listed this as a scenario it has planned for.

The centralized scenario aggregator computes these disaster scenarios.

The computed scenarios and those obtained from the groups and aggregated together and made available for analysis.

Either by querying the Infrastructure Monitor, or by a push mechanism from the Infrastructure Monitor, it is made aware of the changes in the state of the system.

For each change, it lists out the groups and the scenarios that are affected by that change.

The likelihood of each change creating a disaster scenario for the system or for each group is calculated.

This can be done by using, for example, with application number US13/483,492.

These new scenarios are added to the list of scenarios, and invalid scenarios are removed from the list.

While coming up with the scenarios, data specific to the group usage may be taken into account

Historical data related to the scenarios and the realized adverse affects may be considered while

preparing the current list of scenarios.
