The invention proposes a technique for replacing computing platform of magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) system with cloud computing. The technique uses cloud computing power such as storage, random access memory (RAM) and central processing unit (CPU) for both host personal computer (PC) and image reconstruction engine. FIELD OF INVENTION

The invention generally relates to a magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) system and more particularly to a technique for fulfilling computing requirements of image reconstruction and MRI system console with cloud computing. 

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

In general, magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) system uses individual sensors to fulfill their computer console and computing requirements for image reconstruction engine. Cloud computing technology is widely used across several industries. The cloud computing technology is yet to pick up in healthcare sector due to concerns, such as, regulatory, data safety and privacy issues.  A lot of time is required to install software at site. Also, several errors occur during installation.  Also, if customer requests for and is willing to pay for higher computing power, it requires a very long process. The process requires validating new hardware and shipping the hardware to the site of customer as there is no way to upgrade random access memory (RAM) or storage space immediately.

The conventional computing platform requires host operating system (OS), host personal computer (PC), volume recon engine (VRE) PC, VRE OS, and other hardware and software related items which lead to extremely burdensome and painful activity such as end of life (EOL) activities.

Hence there exists a need for an efficient technique to fulfill computing requirement for MRI system console and image reconstruction.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION

The invention proposes a technique for replacing computing platform of magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) system with cloud computing. The technique is also applicable to all modalities, such as, computed tomography (CT), X-ray or vascular, among others.  The technique uses cloud computing power, such as, storage, random access memory (RAM) and central processing unit (CPU) for both host personal computer (PC) and image reconstruction engine.

A customer has a thin client on his side similar to an operating system of tablet device. The tablet device includes a larger monitor which is comparable to conventional computers. The system is directly booted to a web interface. The customer visits website of a company, specific to the purchased system and enters license key. On the basis of customer purchase decision, for example, 3T magnet, X-ray mammography (XR...
