A method and system is disclosed for displaying change in user’s interest over time in a collaborative system. The method and system extracts information from the user’s social profile and plots the extracted information on a time scale to represent the user’s interest for different time periods.

Disclosed is a method and system for displaying change in user's interest over time in a collaborative system.

The method and system enables visualization of a user's social network timeline along with change in user's interest over time by sliding a time scale. Sliding the time scale displays the changing interests of the user over time. In addition, some recommendations such as friends and products are provided to the user based on similar change in choice of the user and the friend. The method and system enables a user to select any parameter and view how the parameter has changed over time.

The figure illustrates the visualization provided by the system. As shown in the

figure, the bottom blue line represents the time scale with number markings and the blue arrow head represents the slider. In addition, the information (in circle/ellipse) displayed over the time scale represents the user's interest for that year or age of the user.

The method extracts feedback of the user's from social networking sites on a regular basis, such as daily.
