INFORMATION DISPLAY SYSTEM FOR A VEHICLE

The present invention relates to an information display system for use in relation with a vehicle, and more particularly to a large format information display which is mounted on a truck and/or trailer and designed for displaying information related to traffic information and/or other information such as advertising. The information display system is connected to a geographical positioning system, for example GPS (Global Positioning System). Different information is displayed depending on the vehicle’s current geographical position.

When driving a vehicle for example in a queue it may be difficult for a vehicle operator to be alerted about traffic jam, traffic accidents etc. that occurs further on in the queue. It is therefore desirable to alert vehicle operators about these situations in order for the vehicle operator to adjust the vehicle speed and/or chose a different  driving route in due time. If the information display is mounted at the rear of the trailer following vehicle operators can be alerted about these situations.

The truck and/or trailer is equipped with a large display which is adapted to display information either as motion images or as still images and where the viewing can be performed either when the vehicle is in transit or on site.
