Abstract

Techniques are presented herein to allow a user to input during an online conference session comments of various in real-time or even offline, comments of various types including text, voice, video or a picture/photo by a convenient and intuitive interactive way. In so doing, the participants in the meeting can indicate their focus, request additional information, ask questions, provide additional reference information, etc. The presenter can conveniently control the status and interaction with participants even when he/she is dealing with a large number of real-time online comments. For example, the presenter can assign an assistant to help him/her with respect to certain comments received during the meeting.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION

            In real-time web (online) conferencing or communications, when a presenter is sharing video, a web page or a presentation/document, there can be challenges for the presenter and the participants/attendees.  If can be difficult for a user to intuitively enter comments with respect to a pointed target area of a picture or shared content.  A user's comments cannot easily be converged and well organized according to tags generated by real-time inputs, and as a result something may be missed in the meeting recording/minutes.  As a result, there is less valuable content to be used in offline interaction for further discussions, etc.

From the point of view of the presenter, the presenter may not be able to view and make notes about all the comments provided by the meeting participants.  The presenter cannot completely control his response time and will be often interrupted if there are too many comments from participants.  Further still, all comments from the participants cannot easily be shared since some participants may miss it in a real-time meeting or communication.

            Accordingly, a solution is presented herein to allow for real-time convenient interactive comments during an online conference.  In this solution, a user can lock the view and select a point in the displayed content to input comments against a presentation, document or other shared content.  A participant/attendee user can input text, photos, drawings or voice as comments.  The presenter can show/share and control all comments received from participants.  The presenter can decide when he will interact with participants according to a real-time feedback status.  Participants (as well as the presenter) ca...
