Disclosed is a method and system for incorporating a battery operated device as part of a hard copy document such as hard copy book. The method and system allows a user copying of contents of the hard copy document to the battery operated device .

In an implementation, the battery operated device is attached to the hard copy book . For example, the battery operated device is attached to the inside left cover of the hard copy book. The battery operated device is equipped with a small, lightweight, battery or solar operated device. The battery operated device contains a complete index of every

word in the book. The battery operated device is also equipped with a keyboard and a display unit suitable for entering search words and displaying the resulting page numbers. The battery can last virtually forever with solar cells to power the device

when there is sufficient light. The battery operated device is small enough to not interfere with opening or closing of the hard copy book.
