Abstract

Almost everyone has one or more mobile devices, such as mobile phones, these days. And they are quickly becoming a necessity in everyday life and in business. Screen locking and unlocking are common practice to address the loss or theft of mobile devices, and to prevent an unauthorized person from using the device, the top security concerns. Proposed is a method to make the mobile phone screen unlock with predefined but customizable touching areas.

Almost everyone has one or more mobile devices, such as mobile phones, these days. And they are quickly becoming a necessity in everyday life and in business. Screen locking and unlocking are common practice to address the loss or theft of mobile devices, and to prevent an unauthorized person from using the device, the top security concerns.

The popular ways for unlocking the screen include, but are not limited to:
1) Touch screen, then input the password as numbers and/or letters;

2) Touch screen, then draw correct line between several points

There are some issues, though, with these mechanisms. The key issue is that these mechanisms all require finger doing fine motor movement. But sometimes, it is not convenient or possible for people to use their fingers to conduct the fine motor movements on their mobile devices. Here are some examples
o People wearing gloves (skiing in winter, researching in space ship, etc.)
o People with disabled figures
o People that do not have fine motor skills

What is desired is a much simple way for people described above to unlock the screen of their mobile devices. The core idea of this invention is to define several identified touching areas in screen in corresponding to the real password number, then using mobile gyroscope to control virtual finger hit which used to hit identified touching areas and input the simple password.

The biggest advantage is that setting and unlocking are straightforward, so everyone can adopt. Its friendly interface will promote a more secure use of their devices
