Abstract

Disclosed is an alternative web conferencing paradigm in which all presenters establish sessions with the moderator up front, which allows a person other than the immediate presenter to orchestrate and moderate the flow of the presentation. The moderator is able to simultaneously view all sessions and facilitate which session to share in the conference.

In a collaborative meeting with multiple presenters, switching from one presenter to another takes time and is disruptive to the meeting flow.

A viewer is only able to view the presentation of a single presenter controlled by the

moderator. Remote collaboration often requires being able to see previous material and have side conversations. This can be better facilitated by allowing the viewer to choose which presentation to view.

Current video chat applications offer collaborative control, but do not provide moderator controlled behavior nor support web conferencing. Similar concepts to that presented here might exist in broadcast media, but this idea applies it to collaborative conferencing.

The novel contribution is an alternative web conferencing paradigm in which all presenters establish sessions with the moderator up front. The novelty of this idea lies in the ability of a person other than the presenter to orchestrate and moderate the flow of the presentation. The moderator is able to simultaneously view all sessions and facilitate which session to share in the conference. In a less formal and more collaborative setting, the individual viewers could control which presenter is in view.
