Disclosed is a method and system for providing maintenance assistance to a user by using augmented reality and related devices. The method and system utilizes a set of augmented reality and related integrated devices to assist the user and simplify a maintenance task for the user. The method can be embodied as software on the set of augmented reality and related integrated devices.

The figure below illustrates an exemplary integration of augmented reality glasses, a smart phone and a smart watch for providing maintenance assistance to the user.

In an embodiment, the method and system utilizes augmented reality glasses for visual display of tasks and tools list. The method and system also utilizes a smart phone for communicating alerts and sharing information with the user. In an implementation, if a problem occurs in a piece of equipment or a device that has the capability to generate an error code alert, then the alert is sent to the smart phone. Thereafter, the method and system processes a component error or a maintenance code on the smart phone to retrieve information and perform search. The smart phone searches a remote database for the error code against a product code and a model number. The method and system then obtains maintenance task information, search results of social media comments and tools list for display on the augmented reality glasses. The method and system also provides the user with the ability to have the details sent to the display of the augmented reality glasses. Further, the user can seek assistance of peers by

obtaining information and comments from social networks. In this case, the software searches for the problem and displays any suggestions for the maintenance task from a social network site.
