One model one set reports support multi-tenant and multi-language BI dashboard solution

Traditional methods for making reports that support multiple tenants and multiple languages are complex . The current methods create multiple model packages, create multiple versions of a report, or build complex reports to have all languages as different language blocks. In addition, model and report creation and maintenance are complex processes.

The novel contribution is a method to simplify the cycles of model and report creation and maintenance . One model connects to the databases of different tenants, while one set reports to support multi-language labels and text. The same idea can also be used in similar scenarios, such as dynamically showing labels on reports and treating fixed text information as dynamic data, not the hard coded text.

The method creates a model with one data source and multiple database connections . When a user logs on, the model connects to the user's tenant database. All numbers and text labels filter to the specific tenant and language through the current user session parameters in the model. On reports, text does not use hard text labels; all text is read from the query items. The method creates a query on the report to get report labels from model exposed report label hierarchy that were already filtered by the user locale in the model.
