Method and System for Providing a Catalog of Deployable Artifacts across Systems in a Cloud Computing Collective

Disclosed is a method and system for providing a single aggregated view of deployment artifacts across a full administrative domain, or across a deployment sub-domain within a cloud computing collective. The deployment artifacts contain presentable location information for each artifact instance. The artifact instance is located in the full administrative domain visual indicators when such artifact instances differ in ways significant to a deployment decision based in digital signatures of artifacts. The method and system provides a means for both manual and automatic replication of deployment artifacts to make the artifacts available at necessary locations within the collective.

The method and system provides a single pane of glass view for distribution of artifacts across a full domain or within a deployment sub-domain. The conventional display of artifacts, within an administrative console of a specific system of the

collective, is enhanced to display locations of all instances of the artifacts across the system. The locations can be displayed at the higher level of a listing of such artifacts or within details of a specific artifact. The display highlights discrepancies between instances of artifacts in different locations. For instance, an artifact can be uniquely identified by a specific set of attributes, such as a name and version. The instances can vary in significant ways by possessing the same values for the specified attributes, but different values for other attributes. The method and system highlights the value of the attributes. The single pane of glass view provides a means to propagate additions or changes to local artifacts to other locations within the collective. The propagation can be carried out automatically or manually, synchronously or asynchronously. In addition, the propagation can be performed in time for artifact instances made available at locations required for efficient deployment patterns only at the time of the deployment action and as part of the deployment action. The single pane of glass is not associated with a specific administrative node within the distributed collective. The single pane of glass is available from any or all nodes within the collective. The single pane of glass is a core part of any or all nodes within the collective.

The method and system requires an established trust relationship between systems

within the distributed collective. The established trust relationship allows queries from one system to be targeted at any and all other systems within the collective. For establishing the trust relationship, cryptographic tokens are shared when a system joins the collective and a common user directory is used across the collective. The method and system extends query for local repository of artifacts in order to display content to retrieve and aggregate information abo...
