Smart Social Emergency Traffic Apparatus (SSETA)

The current method for informing drivers about accidents is a portable reflector -warning triangle or cone set on the road; however, this is not visible from a distance.

Drivers are not aware of an accident or a disabled vehicle on the side of the road until it is come upon , which causes sudden traffic

jams and delays. A method is needed to provide drivers with more advanced warning when an accident or other traffic interference is ahead.

The novel contribution is the Smart Social Emergency Traffic Apparatus (SSETA). This smart identification and warning system advises drivers from a distance of an active traffic incident ahead. The system sends a visual signal as well as a mobile report via social networks when traffic interference is in the driver's path.

The apparatus consists of an inflatable reflective warning triangle connected to an air compressor mechanism . This is kept by a driver in a vehicle in a portable case. The apparatus is equipped with a Bluetooth* communicator that is identified by mobile devices, which can then share a traffic warning via social networks. This mechanism allows drivers to reduce speed and to be more aware of the surroundings and traffic conditions. This early warning also provides drivers time to find alternate routes and avoid the incident altogether.
