Abstract

A method and system for organizing emails by providing a reply later feature for emails is disclosed.

Description

Disclosed is a method and system for organizing emails by providing a reply later feature for emails.  In an embodiment, the method and system firstly identifies the email messages that require a user to perform a future reply action.  The email messages that require the user to perform the future reply action are referred to as actionable email messages or repliable email messages.  The actionable email messages are presented to the user either as a separate list that is duplicated from inbox, or in a non-obtrusive way, by highlighting a potential reply action to the user for each actionable email message within the inbox.

The list of actionable email messages can be selected by utilizing one or more of an automatic component and a user driven component of the method and system. 

The automatic component is driven by an automated process that identifies the actionable email messages based on a learning process.  In one implementation, the learning process consists of two stages wherein in the first stage the method and system identifies a list of senders for each user, whose messages may call for a reply.  Here, the list of senders is obtained through a list of features derived from history of the user and the senders.  The method and system extracts the histor...
