Abstract

A method and system is disclosed for increasing advertisement (ad) relevancy by adding a parameter called event flow discrete values. The parameter can be added by learning user activities and categorizing the user according to one of the discrete values. The user is shown more relevant advertisements based on the discrete value.

Method and System for Increasing Advertisement Relevancy by Adding Event Flow Discrete Values

Abstract

A method and system is disclosed for increasing advertisement (ad) relevancy by adding a parameter called event flow discrete values.  The parameter can be added by learning user activities and categorizing the user according to one of the discrete values.  The user is shown more relevant advertisements based on the discrete value.

Description

Currently, even after a user completes the process of buying a product, advertisement (ad) to buy the same or a similar product is shown due to content-based targeting.  Content-based targeting is purely based on past activities of the user.

Disclosed is a method and system for increasing advertisement relevancy by adding a parameter called event flow discrete values.  The parameter can be added by learning user activities and categorizing the user according to one of the discrete values.  The advertisements delivered to the user are based on the discrete value.  Thus, the advertisements are more relevant to the users.

The method and system evaluates products searched by the user based on content-based targeting.  In addition, the method and system monitors further activities of the user to add the user to a relevant discrete action value.  To add more weightage to content-targeted advertisements, user actions can be categorized using a discrete value approach.  Therefore, in addition to scanning the content, discrete action value and approach can also be applied.  For example, if the user continues to spend hours on an e-commerce site that is relevant to the products that the user searches, the method and system associates the user to the next discrete action value "shortlisted or purchasing".  The next set of events is monitored.  If check-outs of similar products are noticed, then the user is associated with the next discret...
