Abstract

Methods, systems, and media for presenting video content items are provided. In some embodiments, the method comprises: receiving, at a video hosting service associated with a first domain, a video content item; storing the video content item in a database of video content items; receiving, at the video hosting service, a request to present the video content item, wherein the request includes a content identifier; in response to determining that the request corresponds to a webpage associated with a second domain: determining whether the request includes mapping information that associates the second domain with the first domain; retrieving the video content item from the database of video content items based on the content identifier; causing the video content item to be presented in a customized video player on the webpage belonging to the second domain.

Technical Field

         The disclosed subject matter relates to methods, systems, and media for presenting video content items.

Background

         Individuals and companies frequently upload video content to a video content source associated with another individual or company, which can provide the video content. However, in some situations, the owner or creator of the video content may want to deliver the video content within the owner or creator's own domain and may want to control parameters relating to how the video content is delivered. Additionally or alternatively, the owner or creator of the video content may want control over the type and content of any advertisements that are presented in association with the video content.

         Accordingly, it is desirable to provide new systems, methods, and media for presenting video content items.

Summary

         Methods, systems, and media for presenting video content items are provided. In accordance with some embodiments of the disclosed subject matter, methods for presenting video content items are provided, the methods comprising: receiving, at a video hosting service associated with a first domain, a video content item; storing the video content item in a database

of video content items; receiving, at the video hosting service, a request to present the video content item, wherein the request includes a content identifier; in response to determining that the request is received from the first domain: retrieving the video content item from the database of video content items based on the content identifier; and causing the video content item to be presented in a video player on the first domain associated with the video hosting service; in response to determining that the request corresponds to a webpage associated with a second domain: determining whether the request includes mapping information that associates the second domain with the first domain; retrieving the video content item from the database of video content items based on the content identifier; causing the video content item to be presented in a customized video player on the webpage belonging to the second domain, wherein the video player associated with the video hosting service is inhibited from being presented on the webpage belonging to the second domain; and monitoring usage statistics corresponding to the presentation of the video content item in the customized video player on the webpage.
